KU, ISU…win or lose, there’s always tailgating!!

After many hours in the Iowa State parking lots as well as some quality tailgating time with the Chiefs over the past couple years, it is clear that regardless of the status of the football program, tailgating is unfazed and the remote controlled, can tossing Cooler Cannon is always a hit.

Furthermore, we also found the same high energy atmosphere while tailgating with the Kansas Jayhawks a couple weekends ago.  Here are a few highlights from that trip.

Traveling down Illinois, Mississippi, and variety of other state named streets one may think they were lost. But with a sea of crimson and blue, the smell of BBQ in the air, and the hospitality of the Midwest, the folks of Kansas let their true colors shine.  We were greeted with a warm welcome and openness from the moment we arrived. With the first launch of the Cooler Cannon the Jayhawkers were enthusiastic to see another object take flight.  Whether it was the alumni of ’97 or the current student body everyone loved watching the cans fly…Rock Chalk Thank You KU.

We’ve also had some great experiences in the past with the Kanbulance resKU crew, so a special shout out to Wes Smith and crew for hosting an event where the Cooler Cannon (then Shoot A Brew) was featured on the Food Network’s Invention Hunters.  They do it up right and it goes to show you win or lose, there’s plenty of fun to be had in the lots.

  • It is a crowd funding website.
  • It uses Amazon Payments and is safe and secure.
  • You sign up to pledge something in exchange for a reward (like a cooler)

Why Kickstarter?

  •  It’s a great way to raise the finances needed to get a project into production

What happens if you don’t reach your goal?

  • You don’t pay anything and Cooler Cannon will not go into production:(

Tailgating with Cooler Cannon at ISU

Jack Trice Stadium Tailgating, Oct 3, ISU vs. Dirty TX

I have to admit, there aren’t a lot of products more fun to demo than Cooler Cannon.  To spread the word about the Kickstarter campaign, we walked the parking lots around Jack Trice Stadium and fired off rounds of cans with the remote control.

Fans loved it and were eager to get one, so we left everone with cards to point them to the link above.  Surprisingly, one of the most frequent questions I fielded was “do you have a patent on that?”  I guess I should have expected that from an engineering school, and yes the patent was issued in 2010.  So here are some more pics of the tailgating scene at ISU.

It’s a great tailgating school in that all the action is in one huge surrounding area of parking lots.  Makes it easy to make your way around and find all your friends.  Here’s one rig I can appreceate.  Nice effort here, even down to the 70′s couch, nice touch.

As always, thanks to the fans for a great time last Thursday, despite the blown calls.  If you haven’t seen Coach Paul Rhoads response to the game, it’s another fired up response from a passionate coach.  Hope to see you all soon at your next tailgate.  Drop us a line on our Facebook page if you’d like us to stop by.
